Denlinger presented a House of Representatives Citation to Jeff Meyers of Ephrata. Meyers, who is disabled and needs the daily assistance of his caregiver, Cynthia Hammond, sprung into action when he noticed Hammond having difficulty breathing. He called 911 and flagged down the ambulance. Doctor's say Meyers' quick action likely saved Hammond's life. Here, Denlinger stand with Meyers, Hammond, and Meyers' parents, Sharon and Ray. Rep. Denlinger visited the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. The prison, which once housed Al Capone, was designed to inspire penitence in convicts. It opened in 1829 and used solitary confinement, along with labor. In 1965, the federal government named the prison a National Historic Landmark. The last prisoners were relocated 1971. Recently, Rep. Denlinger participated in a legislative tour of the Sikorsky Helicopter facility near Coatesville. Though it is a global company, Sikorsky’s entire production of civilian helicopters is completed at its facility in Chester County. Rep. Denlinger read the book "Whose Shoes? A Shoe For Every Job" by Stephen R. Swinburne to children at the Washington Education Center in Ephrata. Rep. Denlinger recently visited Landis Homes on 4/21/11 to present S. Margaret Denlinger with a House citation commemorating her 100th birthday. Rep. Denlinger recently attended the Lincoln Fire Company annual banquet. Rep. Gordon Denlinger (R-Lancaster) recently participated in the reading of the U.S. Constitution at a ceremony held in the state Capitol Rotunda on Sept. 17. The constitution was read by 100 people from all walks of life including members of the General Assembly, school students, librarians, judges and other dignitaries from across the Commonwealth. The constitution was signed in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1787. At a recent press conference, Rep. Gordon Denlinger (R-Lancaster) joined a bipartisan coalition of state lawmakers led by Rep. Sam Rohrer (R-Berks) to urge Gov. Ed Rendell and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to cease and desist from implementing any provision of the federal government’s REAL ID program without legislative approval. Preserving all of the rights enumerated by our forefathers in the constitution, especially the right to own and possess firearms, was the purpose of a rally attended this morning by Rep. Gordon Denlinger (R-Lancaster). The Third Annual Right to Keep and Bear Arms Rally was attended by hundreds of Second Amendment advocates and dozens of House members. Rep. Gordon Denlinger (R-Lancaster) recently presented a House citation to Violet E. Baker for her dedication and service to the Gap community. Over the years, Mrs. Baker has devoted many hours of volunteer work to various groups in Gap. Her achievements and knowledge of local history have earned her the distinction of being called “Mrs. Gap.” On Monday, the day before the state’s annual budget address, Rep. Gordon Denlinger (R-Lancaster) and fellow House Republicans implored the governor to put the brakes on spending and introduce a zero-growth budget that allows Pennsylvania to live within its means.
