Biography

Gordon Denlinger was elected to represent the people of Lancaster County’s 99th Legislative District in 2003.  A conservative Republican, Denlinger has focused his legislative efforts on promoting the creation and growth of small business, helping Pennsylvania’s farmers, and defending traditional values.  As a member of the House majority in the 2011-12 legislative session, Denlinger will continue his longstanding commitment to preserving the free enterprise system on which our nation was built, creating jobs, reforming Harrisburg, and providing tax and regulatory relief.

Taking office three months into the 2003-04 legislative session, Denlinger carries on a tradition of responsive and effective service to the people of the 99th District, which includes the Townships of Brecknock, Caernarvon, Earl, East Earl, Ephrata and Salisbury, as well as the Boroughs of Ephrata, New Holland and Terre Hill.

As state representative, Denlinger is a strong voice for families, farmers and the small business community. As a father of four, he has a vested interest in improving education and making sure Pennsylvania remains economically competitive in the 21st century.

In his positions as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Fiscal Policy for the House Appropriations Committee and leader of the Job Creation Policy Development Team under the Republican Policy Committee, as well as his membership on the House Agriculture, Finance and Tourism Committees, Representative Denlinger is well-positioned to shape public policy and represent the views of those living in eastern Lancaster County.

In addition to his legislative committee assignments, Representative Denlinger currently serves as founding chairman of the Values Action Team, a coalition of like-minded legislators working to advance traditional family values in our State Capitol.

A Certified Public Accountant, Denlinger had been Controller for Sharp Shopper, Inc., a grocery discounter based in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, prior to taking office. From 1990 until 2002, he was Assistant Controller for Newell Rubbermaid’s Graco Children’s Products Division. Graco, based at the time in Elverson, PA, is the world’s largest producer of baby furniture.

Denlinger is a 1985 graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., where he earned a B.S. degree in Accounting. He is a member of both the American Institute of CPAs and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs.

Denlinger and his family are members of Covenant Reformed Church in New Holland, where he has served as an Elder. He and his wife, Carolyn, reside in Narvon with their four children -- Evan (22), A. Preston (20), Blake (18), and Mariah (12).
